Sun is Virgo, 15° 22'
Moon is Pisces, 15° 22'

Eclipse season is here again, and while some are calling this the Harvest Moon, that's not correct. This one is the Corn Moon and the full moon in October will be the Harvest Moon. It is easy to get it confused because the Harvest Moon is based on the full moon that is closest, either just before, or just after the September Equinox. Even I mixed it up last month. Sorry about that!

This Lunar Eclipse will not be visible from the Americas. Most of the Eastern Hemisphere will get to watch the Blood Moon, if it is a clear evening. Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia will have the best opportunity to watch this Full Moon's Total Lunar Eclipse.

This eclipse belongs to the Lunar Saros Series 128, that originated on June 26, 1304 (corrected from the Julian date of June 18, 1304). The eclipse originated in the Northern Hemisphere, belongs to the Ninth Nodal family, and occurred at 4 degrees and 17 minutes in Capricorn. The influence carries over to each of the subsequent eclipses that belong to this series. This originating eclipse would have stirred up emotions directly tied to social reputation and career endeavors, particularly based on the rulers of the sign (Capricorn/Saturn), decan (Capricorn/Saturn), and Duad (Aquarius/co-ruled by Saturn and Uranus).

This current eclipse event is occurring in the sign of Pisces, while the Sun transits through Virgo. Mercury, in Virgo, is in the process of catching up to the Sun after the recent retrograde motion. It is close enough to the Sun to be considered a conjunction, while opposing the Moon, adding the Mercury flavor to this eclipse, considering that Mercury rules in Virgo. We are likely to be critical of opinions that directly conflict with our own. The full moon is forming a wedge pattern (trine and sextile) with Jupiter in Cancer. Jupiter's position is likely to expand on anything going on during this full moon, which could be positive, or negative. A lot will depend upon how we react to events and situations.

Venus in Leo, is inconjunct to the Moon, adding a distinct challenge to our mood. It could have an indirect impact on an important relationship, or potentially shift our financial situation.

Mars, in Libra, is square to Jupiter in Cancer. This adds weight to Jupiter's ultimate influence with the full moon. Thankfully, Libra tames Mars down, a bit, reducing some of the tendencies that would normally cause Mars to act out.

The trine/sextiles of the outer planets (Pluto, Neptune, Uranus), all currently in retrograde motion, has taken on a new dynamic, now that Saturn has moved out of the sign of Aries and back in the anaretic degree of Pisces. Add in the fact that Pluto is now, finally, in a rare Out of Bounds transit. The OOB transit began during the last few days of August, and will last until the last week of November. When Saturn was in Aries, it was adding a bit of stability to these connections. Now, being out of sign, we are likely to experience a shift that forces us to admit to things we normally would not. Pluto's OOB transit also causes instability. Power dynamics are likely to cause us to struggle for a couple of months, even after Pluto stations direct.

All in all, the planetary placements are solid, with five planets in the Masculine Receptive signs, but there are also five planets in Mutable signs, meaning that we will have some flexibility and options that will allow us to adjust as needed. However, this is a powerful eclipse, and just because we have the ability to adapt, we may struggle emotionally with the shifts that are occurring around us. In two weeks, we will experience the solar eclipse, during the new moon on September 21, just before the Equinox.
