Sun is Taurus, 11° 21'
Moon is Scorpio, 11° 21'

This full moon is the first of two full moons in the month of May. This moon is the Flower Moon, so named by a tribe of Native Americans on the east coast. However, the next full moon is also the Flower Moon (and blue moon). We might want to call this the Bunny Moon this year. In truth, there might be as many different Native American moon names as there were tribes across this country. Check out some of the full moon names on record. Full Moon Names

Nonetheless, this full moon can be used as a type of timing device. (Feel free to skip over this and the next paragraph if an astrology lesson is not what you are interested in.) We have the kickoff with the full moon being inconjunct from two angles from Saturn in Aries and Venus in Gemini. The opposing Sun's placement is the starter. Each of these four placements are considered trigger points, but the Moon's apex point is the culmination point. The planet most likely to bring conclusion since it is the fastest moving of the three trigger placements. Essentially, as the theory goes, the Finger of God yod functions as a starting point of chaos or crisis, as long as the planet opposing the apex planet is a slower moving planet than the apex (in this case the moon). Each time the apex planet or the wing planets, (in this case Saturn or Venus) moves over the apex point of this aspect pattern, it will be trigger more chaos activity until the planet opposing the apex (in this case the Sun) meets up with the opposition point. Some of these Finger of God scenarios can take months, years or even decades to resolve. A lot depends on which planets are involved.

Let's take a quick look at the four trigger points. Inconjunct (quincunx) Saturn at 9 degrees in Aries, the opposing Sun at 11 degrees Taurus, inconjunct Venus at 9 degrees Gemini, and the Moon at the apex point of 11 degrees Scorpio. Every month, the Moon will be moving over all four of these points to act as triggers to activate some form of call and response. Most importantly, until the Sun meets the apex, the Moon will trigger the apex six different times, in addition to all the times it will transit over the other three points. The Sun will finally move over the apex on November 3, 2026. Will let you do some research to find all the other trigger days. You can explore any other planets, from Mercury to Saturn, in this case, to find when they will be transiting over any of the trigger points as listed above to explore whether their transits spark a reaction. Trigger dates from Mercury and Mars may be good ones to watch and track since they are relatively quick and will be moving from Aries soon. Mark all the dates on a calendar/journal to watch and see how events unfold over the next six months, since this will be one of the few "quick" timing events from this type of aspect pattern that will be easy to track to see if this Finger of God theory works for us.

Now that the astrology lesson is handled, it is time to look at today's overall chart. The Sun in Taurus is typically one that reminds us of the importance of self care and safety. We may feel an urge to tighten up aspects of our lives that may have been less than secure or areas where we may have felt unsafe. The opposing Moon, in Scorpio throws in those facets of life that are typically considered to be "taboo" or psychologically on the edge of risky as we explore the scarier, more thrilling side of life. Scorpio sometimes feels like the scary movie sector of our lives. But, that's not the only factor of Scorpio. There's the financial aspects, and the distant family connections that we can add in. There's also the mystery that fuels our passions to understand, and the transformations that result from doing a deep dive into our psyche. The sign of Scorpio gets a bum rap, because it encompasses that side of ourselves that can scare us (and others) the most. But the Moon is the focal point in this chart because of the unique Finger of God Yod (FOGY) aspect pattern. Saturn, in Aries is quincunx/inconjunct to the Moon in Scorpio. Venus in Gemini, is also quincunx/inconjunct to the Moon. Today, these two planets are challenging our emotion state for the day. We may feel incapable of deciding how we feel today. There is the potential for some confusion to be sorted through. Not necessarily negative confusion, but let's just say a lack of clarity for how to deal with today's events. As mentioned earlier, this may be the starting point for an unusual and curious turn of events. More so for people who have natal placements that are closely aligned with the Sun, Moon, Venus and Saturn in today's chart. Essentially, if you make it through this day without too much fuss, you likely are safe from the unusual FOGY we are experiencing today.

Venus in Gemini is trine to Pluto in Aquarius. This has the potential to uncover some unusual financial resources (or savings) and also some shifts in friendships, whether it is new ones, or old ones from the past.

Mars in Aries is square to Jupiter in Cancer. Mars is at home in Aries, and we are likely to approach life with a bit more intensity. Connecting up with Jupiter in Cancer is another form of expansion that could, potentially, open us up for unexpected shifts in attitude and awareness.

The sextile from Neptune in Aries to Pluto in Aquarius is finally starting to work with similar themes and intents. Neptune's transit is frequently defined as the spiritual warrior. Pluto has been situated in Aquarius, mostly for the past year, and we've already seen the shifts it is bringing with technology, such as artificial intelligence, and drones, and exploration. The sextile between these two planets has been rather hit and miss because of the "cusped" transits this past year. Mostly, we'd been dealing with Neptune's movement between Aries and Pisces for so long, that now, the change in attitude may feel awkward until we've had a few more weeks to shift to the aligned focus of these two planets. We should start to see how the two planets will be working cohesively with each other. This aligned sextile is not going away any time soon, now that both planets are settled into the signs of Aries and Aquarius. Through all the upcoming retrograde motions, and direct motions, this sextile will be with us well into the 2030s. Settle in for the "new normal" this aspect connection will bring into society's perspective. Some of us will really like it, others of us are going to hate it.

All in all, this full moon chart is not as challenging as it may appear at first blush. There are still enough planetary placement in each of the sectors to give us a sense of balance and potential recovery from the unexpected. There are more planets in the Masculine/Fire and Air signs to give us the desire to push discomfort to the side, while there are still three planets in the Feminine/Earth and Water signs to give us the ability to adapt rather than recoil. We have plenty of good qualities in this chart to help us to make it through this week, and the next. Remember that we will be encountering a Blue Moon in four weeks in the month of May.
